Tony Holmes is a Plastic and Reconstructive surgeon. A Melbourne University graduate, he qualified in both General Surgery and Plastic Surgery. He trained in both Australia and at Harvard, USA. He is specialised qualified in both countries.
Tony is currently Senior Plastic Surgeon at the Royal Children’s Hospital. He was previously Head of Cleft and Craniofacial Surgery until 2009 and the Director of the Department of Plastic and Maxillofacial Surgery from 1990 to 2003. Tony set up the Melbourne Craniofacial Unit at the Royal Children’s Hospital which is now a leading world centre.
Tony works privately at the Victorian Plastic Surgery Unit at St Vincent’s Private Hospital, East Melbourne Campus. He remains an Honorary Consultant at both the Royal Melbourne Hospital and the Royal Women’s Hospital.
Tony is a member of the Australian and American Societies of Plastic Surgery, the Asian Pacific Craniofacial Society, and the Australian Medical Association. He is Founder and Board Member of Jigsaw Foundation (previously the Children’s Craniofacial Foundation of Australasia). In 2018 Tony was made an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) for his work in Craniofacial Surgery and his support for education and research into craniofacial disorders.
Tony’s public hospital interests are basically paediatric plastic surgery, cleft lip/ palate surgery and craniofacial surgery. He also sees private paediatric referrals.
Tony’s adult private practice is now mainly cosmetic and functional rhinoplasty (nasal reconstruction). He has extensive experience in this field and remains passionate in obtaining the highest levels of results. he also teaches rhinoplasty at a post-graduate level.
Tony has presented and continues to lecture on cleft, craniofacial and rhinoplasty surgery, both nationally and internationally. He is published extensively in peer reviewed journals. He has trained multiple national and international post-graduate Fellows. He was the Harvard Plastic Surgery Resident Visiting Plastic Surgery Professor in 2012.
Tony’s private practice is by appointment only. Prospective patients will be required to get a referral from their general practitioner or an approved specialist before attending. He does not consult with patients via the internet.

Raelene knows the procedures that Professor Holmes does and does not perform: her plastic surgical nursing knowledge is extensive. Raelene organises all scheduling and financial matters and has considerable business qualifications and experience in practice management.
