Minor Operations are performed onsite in our theatre under a local anaesthetic only. Procedures usually are between 30min – 45min in duration after which it is fine to return to work, drive or proceed with normal daily activities (except strenuous exercise). The types of conditions that are routinely performed include, but are not exclusive to;
Small skin cancers (e.g. SCC/BCC)
Lumps and bumps
Other conditions – are considered on consultation with your Doctor.
$150 theatre fee is payable to the main reception for any minor operations that are performed in our on-site theatre. This fee is non-refundable by Medicare or any private health insurance. This fee covers provision of anesthetic, steralisation, dressings and nursing staff as well as any maintenance of the theatre.
In addition to this is the Surgeons fee which will vary dependent on the type of condition being treated. Your Surgeon will provide you with an itemised quote prior to surgery so you will be aware of any out of pocket costs.
If a sample of tissue is taken that is to be sent to Histology for diagnosis, there will often be a wait of up to 5 business days for results. These will often be discussed at your post-operative appointment roughly one week later (of which is inclusive of the surgery cost)
Please note – all New Patient consultations require a referral from your G.P. prior to attending. As a standard you will be booked in for an Initial Consultation first in order for the Doctor to review and make an assessment, followed up by either a second appointment if relevant, for a minor operation or a booking for surgery in Hospital.
Claiming Money Back
You can claim a rebate back from medicare for consultations, reviews and minor procedures performed in our rooms. You can not claim on Private health insurance as we are not a hospital. If you require surgery in a hospital then you are able to claim from your private health insurance.
